Description
The Antinori Solaia 2014: A stylish and balanced Toscana IGT
The Antinori Solaia is a red wine from the Toscana IGT appellation, and is one of the mythical super Tuscan blends froma Bordeaux and Sangiovese grape varieties. This wine comes from a 20-hectare vineyard located on the Tignanello estate. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil and limestone rock. Ageing takes place in new barrels for 18 months. The Antinori Solaia 2014 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 7% Cabernet Franc.
With an intense ruby-red colour, the Antinori Solaia 2014 has a full and complex bouquet with concentrated aromas of fresh black and red fruit (black cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry, red cherry, raspberry). All of which beautifully mingle with the more spicy notes of vanilla, black pepper and liquorice. On the palate, the wine is exceptionally elegant, fresh and balanced with a strong character. There are present tannins that have a silky texture. For the finish, the Antinori Solaia 2014 features fruity and spicy notes with finesse and a lovely aromatic persistence.
