Description
A Red Wine from Pessac-Leognan
The Estate
The Château Carbonnieux was founded in the 13th century by the Benedictines of the Abbey of Sainte-Croix. Among the oldest estates in Bordeaux, Château Carbonnieux was acquired in 1956 by Marc Perrin and became a classified growth in 1959 in red and white.
The Vineyard
The vineyard of Château Carbonnieux, in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, is divided into 119 distinct plots spread over a mosaic of terroirs ranging from clay-limestone soils to Gunzian gravels. The 59 hectares dedicated to red grape varieties are, like the entire vineyard, labeled High Environmental Value level 3. The vineyard is managed on a plot-by-plot basis and is run using sustainable agriculture.
Vinification and Aging
Manual harvest from September 18 to 26 for the Merlots. Cabernet Franc, September 27. Petit Verdot, September 30. Cabernet Sauvignon, from September 30 to October 10. Double sorting.
