Description
A fine and powerful red wine from the left bank of Bordeaux
The property
Located in the Listrac-Médoc appellation, the Château Fonréaud is one of the must-see references of the Médoc. Owned by the Chanfreau family and classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château Fonréaud seduces enthusiasts with the style of its fruity and spicy wines evolving in a generous and ample palate, promising a great potential for evolution. This property takes its name from a legend according to which King Henry II would have stopped there to quench his thirst. The term "Font-Réaux" meaning "Royal Fountain".
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Fonréaud extends over the high gravel terrace of the Médoc. Located between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean, the 32-hectare vineyard occupies a privileged location and benefits from a unique microclimate. The vines are planted on Pyrenean gravel soils on a limestone base, promoting excellent drainage and good ripening of the grapes, giving birth to great Listrac wines.
