Description
The grace and balance of a great Margaux
The property
With origins dating back to the 13th century, the Château La Tour de Mons is one of the oldest wine estates in Margaux. Classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château La Tour de Mons underwent significant renovation work during the 1990s. Since joining the Crédit Agricole Grands Crus in 2012, the wines have been among the most distinctive of the appellation in recent vintages, thanks to winemaking led by the talented Anne Le Naour, under the guidance of the experienced consulting oenologist Éric Boissenot.
The vineyard
In one piece, the 48 hectares of vines of Château La Tour de Mons extend over Garonne gravels and clay-limestone soils in the heart of the AOC Margaux.
Vinification and aging
From the vineyard to the cellar, the utmost care has been taken to extract the best from this so-called "winemaker's" vintage. After manual harvesting initiated with the merlots from September 13 and completed on October 2 with the cabernet sauvignon, the parcel vinifications were carried out in stainless steel vats.
Blend
50% merlot complemented by 39% cabernet sauvignon and 11% cabernet franc.
