Description

An intense and balanced Pessac-Léognan wine

The estate

The Château Latour-Martillac owes its name to a tower standing in the château's courtyard. This tower is actually the remains of a 12th-century fort and was used to control the road from Bordeaux to Toulouse. Owned by the Kressmann family since 1871, Château Latour-Martillac was awarded the title of Cru Classé des Graves for both red and white in 1953. Today, Tristan and Loïc Kressmann continue with passion and ambition the family tradition and the art of making great red and white wines from the Graves.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Latour-Martillac benefits from an exceptional location in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The Martillac plateau is composed of a mosaic of quaternary gravels, made up of flint, quartz, lydians and jaspers. These soils are the preferred terroir of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The other main terroir of the estate is located closer to the Garonne where there are clay-limestone and gravelly soils on the surface. This is where the Merlot and the estate's white grape varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, are planted.

Vinification and ageing

Aged in oak barrels (40% in new barrels).

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (60%)
Merlot (32%)
Petit Verdot (8%)
