Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for Château Lilian Ladouys 2023

This vintage stands out for its delicate balance between creamy and juicy Merlots and dense, deep Cabernets. Throughout the tasting, this wine combines indulgence, freshness and persistence.

The generosity and delicacy of a Saint-Estèphe wine

The estate

The origins of the Château Lilian Ladouys date back to 1564, when the estate was the fiefdom of Jacques de Bercoyan, lord of Lafite. The estate entered a new chapter in its history following its purchase by the Lorenzetti family in 2008. Since 2018, Manon Lorenzetti has been at the helm of Château Lilian Ladouys, infusing it with a dynamic energy that shines throughout the Saint-Estèphe appellation. In 2019, the winery underwent an expansion and renovation by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Following the new classification established in 2020, Château Lilian Ladouys was awarded the title of Exceptional Cru Bourgeois.

The vineyard

Château Lilian Ladouys 2023 is a Saint-Estèphe wine made from 80 hectares of vines planted on typical clayey gravel soils of the appellation. The vineyard has been certified HVE level 3 (High Environmental Value) since 2018 and has been transitioning to Organic Agriculture since 2020.

The vintage

The beginning of the year is marked in spring by significant mildew pressure combined with unstable and stormy weather. The rigour of the teams allows the health of the vineyard to be maintained. Warm and sunny conditions at the end of summer ensure progressive ripening until the harvest, the longest in the history of the estate (16 days), revealing grapes of high quality and rare balance.

Vinification and ageing

Ageing in oak barrels, of which 33% are new.

Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (57%)
Merlot (37%)
Petit Verdot (5%)
Cabernet Franc (1%).
