Description
A great 2012 vintage from the Margaux appellation
The property
Third Grand Cru Classé in the Official Classification of 1855, Château Palmer is a true star of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. With beginnings in biodynamics initiated in 2009, Château Palmer chose to convert the entire vineyard as of 2014. After building its legend on vintages that have become mythical, Château Palmer continues to write its history under the direction of the talented Thomas Duroux.
The vineyard
Benefiting from an exceptional terroir located in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary, this Margaux property has a rather unusual grape variety in Médoc, giving pride of place to merlot, which stands alongside cabernet sauvignon in equal proportions (47%) associated with petit verdot (6%).
Blend
Merlot (48%), cabernet sauvignon (46%) and petit verdot (6%).
Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Palmer 2012
Tasting
The merlots, rich and exuberant, recall the very beautiful vintages of the end of this first decade of the 2000s. The cabernet sauvignons are straight and precise like those of the lineage of the 2008 vintage. This atypical association harmoniously highlights the creaminess, delicacy and subtlety of the wines of Château Palmer.
Cellaring
This wine can wait in cellars until around 2040.
