Description
2014 Pauillac, 2nd Cru Classe, Bordeaux
The 2014 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Pauillac dominated by 65% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is truly singular on spicy hints, result of the quite important proportion of Petit verdot, 6%, completed by 7% Cabernet Franc and 22% Merlot. The wine is aromatically generous, almost extravagant. The Merlot is strong, frank, yet fresh. The swirl reveals an ample and complex Pauillac. The palate offers a great texture with a precise tannic structure composed of lingering tannins; this backbone gives a lot of vibrancy to the whole. Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon perfectly transpose their complexity in this vintage that allowed a perfect ripeness of the grapes. This fine Pauillac wine is balanced and offers a serious ageing potential.
