Description
A Pauillac red wine with an incredibly long finish
The estate
5th Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, the Château Pontet-Canet has experienced an irresistible rise, making it one of the most emblematic brands of the Médoc. Managed by Justine and Alfred Tesseron, Château Pontet-Canet has established itself as one of the pioneers of biodynamics in the Pauillac appellation with results exceeding all expectations. From vintage to vintage, the estate stands out as one of the most beautiful references of the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
The vineyard of this 5th classified growth of Pauillac extends over a total area of 81 hectares. The vines, which are 40 to 45 years old on average, are planted on quaternary gravelly soils.
The vintage
After a mixed start to the summer, the heat and drought of August confirm the adage "it's August that makes the must". The dry weather until October 10th allows for exceptional grape maturity.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels (60% of which are new barrels).
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (66%), merlot (30%) and cabernet franc (4%).
