Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the L'Excellence 2024 cuvée from Château Saint-Maur
Tasting
Color
Clear and bright, the color stands out for its subtle salmon reflections.
Nose
Delicate and expressive, the nose reveals a beautiful aromatic richness around notes of peach, grapefruit, exotic fruits, currant and raspberry.
Palate
The palate, ample and precise, combines freshness and aromatic purity. Its mineral and saline structure stretches persistently, revealing great complexity and elegant length.
Food and wine pairings
L'Excellence from Château Saint-Maur ideally pairs with meats (skirt steak and veal sweetbreads with girolle sauce), fish (grilled red mullets, herb tuna steak) vegetables (zucchini flowers stuffed with Broccio) or even cheeses and desserts (mozzarella di Bufala, lychee sorbet)
Service
For optimal tasting, serve between 6 and 7°C.
A delicate rosé wine from Côtes de Provence with beautiful freshness
The property
Roger Zannier, owner for over 25 years of Quinta do Pessegueiro in the Douro, acquired the Château Saint-Maur in 2011 with the ambition to make it a reference for wines from Côtes de Provence. Located a few kilometers from Saint-Tropez, Château Saint-Maur has been classified as a Cru Classé since 1955.
The vineyard
The L'Excellence rosé cuvée is a wine from Côtes de Provence from the Château Saint-Maur vineyard covering a hundred hectares planted on a clay-limestone soil rich in shale and quartz.
Vinification and aging
The grapes undergo cold maceration at low temperature, followed by aging in stainless steel tanks.
Blend
Grenache, syrah, cinsault, rolle, cabernet sauvignon, mourvèdre and tibouren.
