Description
A Charming Pomerol Wine with Light Tannins
The Estate
With very ancient origins, the Clos René was formerly named "Reney" on the map of the engineer-geographer Pierre de Belleyme. The estate has been in the hands of the same family for several generations. It is now managed by Jean-Marie Garde.
The Vineyard
Clos René is a Pomerol wine from a 15-hectare vineyard. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on soils composed of gravel and sand and on a subsoil of iron slag. The estate benefits from a blend of 75% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, and 5% malbec.
Vinification and Aging
The aging of this Clos René 2016 is carried out in oak barrels for 18 months.
