A complex and elegant Grand Cru from Alsace
The property
The Domaine Albert Mann, located in Wettolsheim near Colmar, is an essential reference in Alsace. The Barthelmé family, artisan winemakers, cultivate 25 hectares of vines in organic and biodynamic agriculture. The estate is particularly recognized for its 7 Grands Crus, its monopoly Clos and its 2 Named Places. In 2012, the family was named "Winemakers of the Year" by the Revue du Vin de France, a distinction that testifies to their exceptional know-how.
The vineyard
This Alsace wine comes from vines about 30 years old, spread over the town of Kientzheim. The limestone soil and its various exposures (south and southeast), bring a beautiful complexity to the wine.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage proved delicate in its beginnings, but it was able to offer magnificent surprises. Endowed with a beautiful balance and exceptional acidity, it stands out for its brilliance and aromatic richness.
Vinification and aging
This wine reflects an artisanal know-how, with a harvest carried out entirely by hand to preserve the purity of the grapes. The vinification highlights a delicate pneumatic pressing, followed by a natural fermentation that respects the identity of the terroir. Aging on fine lees, without recourse to a collage, accentuates its complexity and silky texture. Made with indigenous yeasts, it retains a rare authenticity. It contains 31 g/L of residual sugars.
