Description
The fullness and freshness of a Rhône Valley red wine
The estate
The story of Domaine Gourt de Mautens is a childhood dream come true. Founded in 1996 by Jérôme Bressy, who was only 23 at the time, this family estate lies at the heart of the Rasteau appellation. At the time, his father was still a cooperative member, supplying his grapes to the Rasteau cooperative cellar. Two years after the creation of the estate, in 1998, Jérôme set up the infrastructure needed to vinify and age the wines. Covering 13 hectares, the Domaine Gourt de Mautens vineyard quickly adopted organic practices, before switching to biodynamic viticulture in 2008. Jérôme Bressy cultivates a range of ancient indigenous grape varieties with meticulous care and rigorous standards. This approach has led him to market his wines under the IGP Vaucluse rather than the AOC Rasteau.
The vineyard
Nestling in the heart of the Rhône Valley, the vines stretch across 13 hectares, of which 12 are dedicated to red grape varieties and 1 to white grape varities.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted with care, then vinified according to traditional methods. This IGP Vaucluse wine then benefits from ageing in barrels.
Grape varieties
Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Counoise, Syrah, Vaccarèse, Cinsault, Terret Noir
