Tasting

Colour
The wine has an intense cherry red colour.

Nose
It reveals a beautiful complexity with interesting notes of red fruits, balsamic touches of the terroir (green coffee and chocolate) and a distinctive minerality.

Palate
The attack on the palate is lively, carried by a solid structure and tannins that are both complex and precise. The finish is long, revealing a delicate mineral character.

A red wine from Galicia with a beautiful aromatic richness

The property

Founded by Fernando Algueira in 1979, the F. Algueira estate symbolises the rebirth of viticulture in the Ribeira Sacra. At a time when this region seemed to have lost its rich viticultural heritage, the Algueira family committed themselves to bringing these lands back to life. The estate now embodies authentic know-how, the result of over forty years of hard work on steep slopes, in Doade and Abeleda. The Algueira family continues to perpetuate local traditions while integrating modern techniques to best express the uniqueness of their terroir.

The vineyard

This Galician wine comes from the steep terraces of Doade and Abeleda, patiently restored by the Algueira family. These plots, benefiting from optimal exposure and a rich geological diversity, give the wine an intense and complex minerality. The management of the vineyard, focused on manual work and a deep respect for the environment, ensures a high-quality production.

Vinification and ageing

This wine is made from whole bunches, traditionally foot-pressed, and fermented in large French oak barrels of 2,000 and 5,000 litres. The ageing then alternates between the barrels and stainless steel tanks for 14 months, offering a perfect balance between complexity and freshness. The final ageing in tank allows the texture of the wine to be harmonised before bottling.
