Description
The complexity and balance of a Rhône Valley red wine
The estate
Committed to traditional viticulture that respects the terroir and the environment, Famille Perrin has become a benchmark for great Rhône Valley wines over the years. A pioneer in the innovative approach of organic farming since 1950, then biodynamic in 1974, the Famille Perrin produces great wines recognised beyond borders for their quality and refinement.
The vineyard
Les Christins 2020 from the Perrin family is a Vacqueyras wine from the southern Rhône Valley. The terroir is characterised by its clay, sand and Ouvèze gravel.
The vintage
A fairly mild winter with very few periods of frost gave way to a fairly warm, very windy spring, allowing the terroir to retain its freshness. Flowering began on 18 May and was uniform. From June to August, summer temperatures were offset by cool, damp nights. September was hot and then more temperate towards the end. The excellent harvest conditions enabled each plot to be picked at ideal ripeness. The harvest produced juicy, well-ripened grapes with reasonable alcohol levels, good acidity and good balance.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes are sorted and destemmed. The long malolactic fermentation is followed by manual punching of the cap for extraction. Aged in wooden vats and tuns for 1 year.
