The estate
A great Florentine family devoted to the production of Tuscan wines, the Frescobaldis have been established in this land of history for over 1,000 years. Their influence grew considerably during the period of the Republic of Florence, when the city's banking industry developed. The family was notably involved in the great works of art of the period, such as the Santa Trinita Bridge and the Santo Spirito Basilica. In 2012, this emblematic family of fine Italian wines founded Frescobaldi - Gorgona as their interests spread to the prison island of Gorgona. By collaborating with this place, unique in Europe, the estate is helping to reintegrate prisoners into society, as they work with nature while gaining professionally during their sentence.
The vineyard
The smallest of the seven islands in the Tuscan archipelago, the island of Gorgone is home to a small, organically-farmed vineyard covering 2 hectares in the heart of an amphitheatre overlooking the sea. Facing east, this exceptional terroir, planted in 1999, includes a vineyard planted in 2015 in addition to the original plot.

Tasting
Colour
The wine is crystal-clear, revealing a beautiful straw yellow colour underpinned by bright golden highlights.
Nose
The nose releases Mediterranean fragrances of white and yellow flowers (marguerite daisy, camomile, hawthorn, mimosa, broom) with a wonderful vivacity. Through aeration, notes of exotic fruit (passionfruit, mango, pineapple) and citrus (citron, mandarin) mingle, up to a mineral and iodised finish.
Palate
Delicious, with a gorgeous freshness, the palate harmoniously combines complexity and aromatic intensity.
