A white wine from Languedoc combining freshness and power
The property
Nestled in the heart of Languedoc, the Gérard Bertrand Estate is a reflection of its founder's commitment to promoting the riches of the South of France's terroir. With a history dating back several decades, this estate is recognized for its expertise in creating wines that powerfully and elegantly express the nuances of the great vineyards of Languedoc.
The vineyard
The Château L'Hospitalet "Grand Vin" 2021 cuvée by Gérard Bertrand reflects the excellence of the Languedoc. Coming from a 1,000-hectare estate, of which 82 are vineyards, this wine comes from a rigorous selection of the best plots, cultivated biodynamically and DEMETER certified since 2017. Located at 100 meters altitude, on the edge of the Mediterranean coast, the vineyard rests on marl-limestone soils, which regulate heat and preserve a precious water reserve, thus offering an exceptional terroir.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested at optimal maturity, the grapes undergo pneumatic pressing with separation of the presses upon their arrival at the winery. A light static settling precedes alcoholic fermentation in barrel at controlled temperatures in order to preserve the freshness and integrity of the aromas. Aging in barrel for 7 to 8 months until the spring equinox, accompanied for two months by regular stirring. Bottling is carried out after a light fining.
Blend
White Grenache, bourboulenc, vermentino.
