Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Jansz's Vintage Cuvée 2017

Tasting

Colour
This wine reveals a pale gold colour with a fine effervescence.

Nose
Intense aromas of honeysuckle, citrus zest and lemon cream mingle with complex notes of brioche, toast and nougat.

Palate
The palate reveals an elegant structure, with flavours of candied lemon, white peach, wild strawberries, sea breeze and truffle. Ageing for over three years on lees in the bottle has developed increased complexity and subtle nuances of nougat and roasted hazelnuts. Endowed with a refreshing natural acidity on the finish, the Jansz Tasmania Vintage Cuvée 2017 is a sparkling wine combining finesse, power and elegance.

A refined and complex sparkling wine from Tasmania

The estate

Founded in 1986 in Tasmania, the Jansz estate was acquired by the Hill-Smith family in 1998, marking the beginning of an adventure that has elevated Jansz to the rank of Australia's most prestigious sparkling wine houses. Paying tribute to its roots, the estate was named Jansz Tasmania in honour of Abel Janszoon Tasman, who discovered the island in 1642.

The vineyard

The estate is located in the cool Tamar Valley, in the north of Tasmania, where the temperate maritime climate and clay soils favour a slow and uniform ripening of the grapes, contributing to the development of aromatic complexity and natural acidity, essential for the production of exceptional sparkling wines.

Vinification and ageing

Hand harvested, each plot is fermented separately to preserve its unique character. Meticulous care, followed by a partial fermentation of ten months in old oak barrels, as well as a precise blending, give this wine exceptional power and elegance. A long ageing on lees, for over three years after the second fermentation, enriches the wine with remarkable complexity

Blend
