The property
For more than 12 generations, the Maison Trimbach is an emblematic reference among the greatest Alsatian wines. The balance between fruit, acidity and minerality is the guiding thread of the vinifications of all the cuvées of this family property, known for its wines with a singular style that seduce the finest international gourmets with their high quality.
The vineyard
Located in the beautiful village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of the Alsace Wine Route, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir both for its soils composed of sandstone, limestone, marl and clay and for its oceanic influences due to the presence of the Vosges massif nearby. Maison Trimbach oversees a vineyard of 50 hectares spread over more than 50 plots and 9 villages.
The wine
The "Grand Cru Brand" 2018 from Maison Trimbach comes from one of the most renowned terroirs in Alsace. With an area of one hectare, this vineyard, on average 65 years old and facing south/south-east, rests on warm granite soil, hence the name Brand which means "fire".
The vintage
Significant rainfall in the first months of the year gives way to a hot and dry summer, ensuring a progressive maturation of the berries while preserving beautiful acidities.
Vinification and ageing
Crushing before gentle pressing in a pneumatic press. Vinification in a dry style, in stainless steel tanks and old casks. No malolactic fermentation. Short ageing to preserve freshness, liveliness and fruity aromas. Bottling in spring followed by 3 years of ageing before marketing.
