Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots" Domaine 2022 by Méo-Camuzet
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a fairly deep ruby-red colour.
Nose
Remarkably precise, the nose releases pure aromas of red and black fruits such as redcurrant, raspberry, blackberry and black cherry. This fruity bouquet is enriched by delicate floral notes reminiscent of iris and peony, complemented by earthy touches, crushed stone and gentle smoke. The oak is particularly well integrated.
Palate
Medium-bodied, the palate charms with its silky texture and great transparency. It reveals a fine structure with soft tannins, offering a substance that is both dense and savoury. The whole extends into a finish of impressive length, marked by subtle minerality and a gentle warmth.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs ideally with fine, flavourful meats. It will go perfectly with roast duck in a truffle sauce, roast shoulder of lamb with basil, or furred game such as young wild boar fillets.
Serving and cellaring
To appreciate the full complexity of this Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots" Domaine 2022, we recommend serving it at a temperature of 16°C. Aeration is advised: open the bottle two hours before tasting, pour a first glass, then return it to the bottle. Built for ageing, this wine deserves to rest in the cellar for a few years and can be enjoyed from 2026 until around 2040.
The Elegance and Purity of a Great Nuits-Saint-Georges Wine
The estate
In Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet takes its name from Étienne Camuzet, who acquired vines in the Clos de Vougeot in 1920. In 1959, Jean Méo took over the running of the estate and continued its story. The first vintage under the Méo-Camuzet label was produced in 1983. Today, the estate cultivates prestigious climats of the Côte de Nuits, including Richebourg, Échézeaux and Cros Parantoux. Its Pinot Noir wines are elegant and profound, and they express all the finesse of the Burgundy terroir.
The vineyard
The climat "Aux Boudots" is a Premier Cru located in the northernmost part of the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges, directly bordering Vosne-Romanée. Facing east, the plot of just over one hectare lies on the lower part of the slope, considered the most noble. The soil is fragmented, of medium depth and rich in limestone elements, promoting excellent drainage. This singular terroir gives rise to a wine from the edge of two appellations, combining the structure typical of its appellation with the roundness and charm of Vosne-Romanée.
Winemaking and ageing
To craft this Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots" Domaine 2022, the grapes are harvested by hand, then rigorously sorted on a sorting table. Fully destemmed, they undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration at around 15°C for three to five days. Fermentation then takes place at controlled temperatures not exceeding 35°C, favouring gentle extraction. Ageing lasts approximately 17 months in oak barrels with a light toast to preserve the fruity expression. Finally, bottling is carried out by gravity, without any fining or filtration.
