Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Perrières" Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs 2022
Tasting
Appearance
The wine shows a deep ruby colour.
Nose
The nose expresses notes of red and black fruits, both ripe and fresh, delicately accompanied by floral and spicy touches.
Palate
Far from any rustic caricature, this wine offers a noble, well-integrated tannic structure. Its silky texture reveals a natural elegance, culminating in a lace-fine finish.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with roast white meats, full-flavoured poultry, delicate red meats or game birds. It also goes very well with dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles, as well as lightly spiced recipes.
Serving and cellaring
While approachable in its youth, this Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Perrières" Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs 2022 has a fine structure that allows it to evolve in the cellar and to be enjoyed until around 2042.
The Elegance and Finesse of a Great Nuits-Saint-Georges Wine
The estate
In Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet takes its name from Étienne Camuzet, who acquired vines in Clos de Vougeot in 1920. In 1959, Jean Méo took over the running of the estate and continued its story. The first vintage under the Méo-Camuzet label was produced in 1983. Today, the estate cultivates prestigious climats of the Côte de Nuits, including Richebourg, Échézeaux and Cros Parantoux. Its Pinot Noirs are elegant and profound, expressing all the finesse of the Burgundian terroir.
The vineyard
The Les Perrières climat lies in the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. Fairly high up on the hillside, this terroir stands out for its soils of medium depth and very stony character, which promote excellent drainage and early ripening of the grapes. The old vines, planted in the 1950s, produce small berries that are often affected by millerandage, resulting in a fine natural concentration.
The vintage
2022 stands out as a warm and early vintage. Despite episodes of drought and high summer temperatures, rigorous vineyard management and carefully adjusted harvest dates helped preserve a fine balance and great freshness in the berries.
Vinification and ageing
The house philosophy favours gentleness and precision. After complete destemming, a cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out to extract colour and aromas delicately. The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Perrières" Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs 2022 is aged in oak barrels, notably from the Tronçais forest. The concentrated body of this wine allows it to absorb a proportion of new oak perfectly, while preserving its characteristic finesse.
