A Californian red wine combining power and refinement

The property

Morlet Family Vineyards, founded in 2006 by Luc and Jodie Morlet, Franco-American winemakers, embodies a passion for traditional viticulture and oenology, combined with an innovative approach. Luc Morlet, from a lineage of Champagne winemakers, has successfully transposed his know-how to California, where he produces exceptional wines in the famous Napa Valley. The estate stands out for the meticulous care given to each stage of production, from the vineyards to the winemaking, always respecting the terroir. Each cuvée, limited and unique, reflects the family's commitment to excellence.

The vineyard

Cœur de Vallée is a Californian wine from vineyards located in the heart of the Oakville appellation. This exceptional terroir is marked by well-drained alluvial soils, composed of 40 to 60% gravel, from deposits of the Mayacamas range. The proximity of the To Kalon stream and the majestic view of Mount Saint John create an environment conducive to the production of high-quality grapes.

The vintage

The 2021 vintage was distinguished by drought conditions that allowed for an exceptional concentration of aromas and a beautiful tannic structure. The harvest is carried out manually at night between late September and mid-October, with a rigorous selection of bunches.

Vinification and ageing

The 2021 Cœur de Vallée fermented with indigenous yeasts, in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. The ageing was extended for 16 months in French oak barrels, from the best artisan coopers. The wine is bottled without filtration or fining.

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (95%)
Cabernet franc (5%).
