Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Barbaresco 2023 from Produttori del Barbaresco
Tasting
Colour
The wine reveals a relatively pale garnet colour with ruby highlights, typical of young Nebbiolo, and is set to evolve towards more orange hues over time.
Nose
The nose is complex and floral, with notes of violet and rose, accompanied by red and black fruits such as cherry, along with touches of sweet spice and liquorice.
Palate
The palate shows lovely intensity at the mid-palate, supported by tannins that are present yet already melting. Nebbiolo's serious structure is complemented by an acidity that brings tension and points to good ageing potential.
Food and Wine Pairings
This Barbaresco pairs ideally with fresh pasta as well as red and white meat dishes, which showcase its tannic structure and aromatic complexity.
A Barbaresco from Piedmont, a faithful expression of Nebbiolo by Produttori del Barbaresco
The Estate
Founded in 1958 by Don Fiorino Marengo with nineteen winegrowers, Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative based in the heart of the village of Barbaresco, in Piedmont. Today it brings together more than fifty winegrowing families around a single project, with no sole owner: each family is a member of the cooperative, farms its own vines and brings its harvest to the shared cellar. Celestino Vacca led it for around thirty years, before Aldo Vacca took over the helm in 1998. The cooperative stands out by devoting itself exclusively to Nebbiolo, making it an essential reference for the appellation.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this Barbaresco come from various vineyards across the DOCG appellation area, cultivated by the cooperative's member families. The soils consist of a blend of limestone and calcium-rich clay, interspersed with sandy veins, offering Nebbiolo a terroir conducive to expressing its finesse and structure.
Vinification and Ageing
The Barbaresco 2023 is vinified in stainless steel tanks, with skin maceration and pump-overs for a controlled extraction. This Italian wine is then aged in large oak foudres.
Grape Variety
100% Nebbiolo.
