The refinement and richness of a Duriense wine

The estate

In 1880, the Ramos Pinto House was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto. Driven by the ambition to produce great Portuguese wines, Ramos Pinto implemented from the outset a demanding quality strategy, from the vineyard to the cellars. To do this, he relied on an exceptional terroir by investing in the best vineyards of the Douro Valley, located in the Duriense region in north-west Portugal. While each has its own particularities, all contribute to the definition of the elegant, fruity and complex style of Ramos Pinto.

The vineyard

Produced only in exceptional years, this Quinta de Ervamoira from Ramos Pinto is a Duriense wine made from a rigorous selection of grapes from five plots planted on the eponymous estate in the 1970s.

The vintage

The spring and early summer are cool and rainy, slowing down the vegetative cycle. Subsequently, the hot and dry weather conditions in the Douro, especially in August and September, ensure a homogeneous and qualitative maturation of the berries.

Vinification and ageing

Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo complete fermentation in traditional granite presses. Ageing for 18 months in small barrels (1/3) and barriques (1/3 new, 1/3 of a wine). Then, the wine ages for a year in bottles before its commercialisation.

Blend

Touriga nacional (86%)
Touriga franca (14%).
