Description
A great, fresh and silky red wine from the Rhône Valley
The property
In 1920, the estate emerged from history when Claude Cuilleron began to work his lands to produce great wines. Since then, three generations have succeeded at the head of the house, thus passing on an ancestral know-how steeped in tradition. In 1987, Yves Cuilleron, Claude's grandson, took over the reins of the estate and personally ensured that its fame crossed borders. Thanks to his passion and dynamism, he transformed his grandfather's 3.5 hectares into a vast wine estate covering 90 hectares of vineyards. Today, inseparable from its talented owner, the Yves Cuilleron estate stands out as one of the most beautiful references in the Northern Rhône Valley.
The vineyard
The Madinière cuvée comes from a blend of plots located in the north of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. There, 5 hectares of vines are rooted in a soil influenced by south and southeast exposed shale. To preserve this precious terroir, Yves Cuilleron does not use insecticides and the very little fertilizer he uses is organic.
Vinification and aging
After manual harvesting, the estate proceeds with a traditional and parcel-by-parcel vinification. Oenological products are set aside as much as possible in favor of indigenous yeasts. After sorting, crushing and partial destemming, the wine macerates for 3 weeks in open vats. The different plots are blended before bottling. Then, the wine ages for 18 months in barrels.
Blend
Syrah and viognier.
