A balanced and delicate red wine from Burgundy
The property
It was in Beaune, in 1731, that the Maison Bouchard Père & Fils was founded. Accumulating almost three centuries of history, Bouchard Père & Fils is thus one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy. At the head of an exceptional estate in Côte d'Or, the 9th generation of the family still perpetuates this unique know-how in the art of making great Burgundy wines today.
The vineyard
Patience built up over the years, the vineyard of Bouchard Père et Fils now extends over 130 hectares of vines. Bringing together prestigious appellations with exceptional plots, the vineyard of Bouchard Père & Fils constitutes a unique viticultural heritage in Burgundy.
The wine
This Beaune 1er cru "Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" Domaine from Bouchard Père & Fils takes its name from a historical anecdote linked to the Carmelite Marguerite du Saint-Sacrement. Indeed, she would have predicted the birth of the future King of France despite the sterility of his mother Anne of Austria. This vineyard took the name of "Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus" at the birth of Louis XIV. Sold in 1791 during the sale of national assets, this terroir, facing east / south-east on a very gravelly clay-limestone soil, has since been the monopoly of Maison Bouchard Père & Fils.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting as well as total or partial destemming depending on the vintages. Fermentation in small containers. Gentle pressing. Maceration from 15 to 20 days. The ageing is carried out for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels (of which 30 to 50% are new barrels) within the Bastions cellars of the old Château de Beaune.
Blend
Pinot noir (100%)
