Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Paradis Brut Rosé Limited Edition Sleeve 2008 cuvée from Alfred Gratien
Tasting
Color
Of a salmon hue with slight coppery reflections, the color stands out for its extremely fine effervescence, creating a shimmering impression. The whole evokes elegance and maturity.
Nose
The mature nose reveals autumnal aromas of chanterelles, candied fruits, toasted bread and caramel, subtly enhanced with candied mandarin, saffron and juniper. On aeration, it evolves towards notes of precious wood, tonka bean and lobster bisque, revealing increasing gastronomic complexity.
Palate
Precise and acidic, this taste experience is accompanied by a creamy effervescence that brings dynamism and tonicity. The texture, both tight and tender, is adorned with chalky notes and a saline touch, reflecting great purity. The finish, long and incisive, elegantly combines acidity, effervescence, salt and a slight bitterness.
Service
For optimal tasting, serve between 10 and 14°C, in a very wide flute or a wine glass. It is possible to decant this champagne to enhance its aromatic and structural potential.
Food and wine pairings
The Paradis Rosé 2008 cuvée from Alfred Gratien pairs perfectly with shellfish accompanied by a delicate saffron sauce, breaded langoustines, or a veal fillet with chanterelles.
Storage
This champagne can be kept in cellars for about 15 years.

The property
Alfred Gratien founded the eponymous house in 1864. Located in Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, the Alfred Gratien House has advocated since its creation a rigorous selection of grapes, vinification in barrels and a limitation of volumes in order to preserve the original character of the terroir and to exhale all the freshness of its wines.
The know-how of the Alfred Gratien Champagne House has been passed down from father to son for several generations and contributes to the unique style of each cuvée.
The vineyard
Alfred Gratien oversees a vineyard of 1.56 hectares of Grand Cru and Premier Cru vines, located on two emblematic terroirs of Champagne, the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The house supplements its supplies by purchasing from about sixty winegrowers loyal to the house for generations.
Vinification and aging
Exclusive use of the first press. Since 1864, vinification has been carried out entirely in oak barrels of at least 4 wines. This method promotes a micro-oxygenation of the wines and gives complexity and roundness. This vintage 2008 champagne benefits from a parcel-by-parcel vinification without malolactic fermentation in order to preserve the original integrity of the fruit and the characteristic vivacity of these wines with a high aging potential.
Blend
Chardonnay (63%)
Pinot noir (37%).
