Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Millésimé Brut Collection Crayeres 1990
Tasting
Colour
Elegant coppery colour.
Nose
Oxidative aromas, such as walnut, chestnut and hazelnut, dominate at first, then give way to floral touches like peony and violet. After aeration, fragrances of red and black fruits, such as raspberry, black cherry and blackberry, appear and confer a delicate complexity.
Palate
The attack is lively and generous, with a beautiful freshness that harmonises with powerful flavours of red and black fruits.
The fruity weave and structure of a vintage rosé champagne
The property
An essential reference, the Champagne Charles Heidsieck House watches over a prestigious heritage with twice-millennial chalk pits. Pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished himself from the late 80s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution capacity of his multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was thus the first Champagne house to indicate the "cellaring year" in order to follow the evolution of the wine over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck House owns a vineyard of about 60 hectares in the Marne and the Aube. This vineyard benefits from a sustainable viticulture approval as well as the High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its needs with long-term supply contracts from rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
From the Charles Heidsieck House's Œnothèque, this Millésimé Brut Collection Crayères 1988 is a rare and delicate rosé champagne, cellared in 1989 and disgorged in 2021.
The vintage
A mild winter precedes a spring marked by frosts and significant rainfall in May before a dry summer then punctuated by storms. Despite these conditions, this vintage is of great quality.
Blend
Pinot noir (60%), chardonnay (40%).
