Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Deutz's 2018 Vintage Brut Rosé
Color
Beautiful pink color with coppery reflections, supported by a delicate effervescence.
Nose
Expressive, the nose reveals fruity fragrances (crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, redcurrant, blueberry jam), pastry (strawberry cake, calisson) as well as citrus (blood orange, kumquat).
Palate
A precise and aromatic attack gives way to a fresh, fruity palate (blackcurrant, blackberry, elderberry, redcurrant) whose structure and persistence suggest a significant aging potential.
The nobility and aromatic expression of a vintage Rosé champagne
The property
The Champagne Deutz House was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by two Prussians, including William Deutz. One was a wine merchant and the other sold champagne. The two founders took care of bottling, disgorging, dosing and labeling, even before they owned their own champagne and vines.
The vineyard
Throughout the 20th century, the founders' heirs gradually outlined the contours of the vineyard by buying plots in the best terroirs of Champagne. Today, Maison Deutz is owned by the famous Roederer family. The great history of Deutz champagnes displays a harmonious style between virtuosity and refinement.
The wine
Made from a rigorous selection of illustrious Champagne terroirs, this Rosé champagne reveals a lively and gourmet expression of the Deutz style.
The vintage
A particularly wet winter precedes a particularly sunny spring and summer, promoting rapid vegetative development and optimal progressive maturation of the berries.
Blend
The 2018 vintage Brut Rosé from Deutz is the result of a blend of 78% Pinot Noir (Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tauxières-Mutry), 22% Chardonnay (Avize, Bergères-lès-Vertus).
4% of Red wine made by the House's Cellar Master from vineyard plots on the Aÿ slope: "Pierre Robert", "La Pelle", "La loge aux Vigniers" and the "Les Cumaines" plot in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ are added to the blend.
