Description
The richness and fullness of a Moët & Chandon vintage champagne with floral notes
The producer
Moet Champagne (the House of Moet & Chandon) was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, a visionary wine merchant, who quickly made Moet Chandon a reference in the highest courts of Europe. A few years later his grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, developed the reputation of the house internationally.
Jean-Rémy Moët notably created the iconic cuvée of the house, the Moet and Chandon Imperial, in honor of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, who visited the estate on several occasions and who allegedly invented the tradition of bashing open a bottle of Moët Chandon champagne to celebrate a victory with his troops.
Owned by the LVMH group since 1987, the Moet and Chandon Champagne House produces, from a very rigorous selection of Champagne terroirs, unique cuvées recognized across borders for their quality and for their seductive personality.
The wine
Exclusively produced during fine years, Moët & Chandon's Grand Vintage champagne invites you to discover the original and free expression of a unique year.
The vintage
Moët & Chandon's Grand Vintage 2006 reflects the identity of the vintage in which it flourished; marked by a scorching July, a rather cool August and a beautiful month of September. The grapes harvested showcased a good ripeness level and high acidity, while also displaying a high sugar content.
Vinification and ageing
This champagne is made according to a meticulous elaboration process. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to reduce the acidity of the wine. Pinot Meunier is systematically integrated into the blend to bring its juicy and fleshy texture.
The ageing period is twice as long as that required by the appellation's regulations. The result is a complex, generous vintage champagne with a unique identity. This cuvée has been aged for 7 years in the cellars of Moët & Chandon.
The blend
Grand Vintage 2006 by Moët & Chandon is a blend of Chardonnay (42%), Pinot Noir (39%) and Pinot Meunier (19%).
