The property
Established for nearly five centuries in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the Champagne Philipponnat House is one of the historic names of the Champagne region. Singularity, excellence, generosity, and simplicity are the values that guide this house whose spirit has remained familial. Owned by the house since 1935, the mythical Clos des Goisses is one of the oldest and most prestigious clos of Champagne. This jewel is the origin of rare champagnes with exceptional power.
The Champagne Philipponnat House watches over an exceptional vineyard of 20 hectares in Premiers and Grands Crus in Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and Avenay.
The wine
This Les Cintres cuvée is made from a plot located in the heart of the Clos des Goisses, emblematic terroir of Champagne. Ideally exposed full south and benefiting from optimal sunshine, these vines give birth to a cuvée expressing with authenticity the identity of this unique terroir. After 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010, 2012 is the fifth vintage of this .
The vintage
2012 is a year marked by a winter and spring punctuated by freezing episodes as well as cool temperatures after flowering, causing coulures and a significant concentration. A particularly humid July gives way to a mild end of summer ensuring a progressive maturation of the berries while preserving a beautiful freshness.
Vinification and aging
This cuvée is traditionally vinified, exclusively under wood and without malolactic fermentation. This 2012 vintage champagne benefits from aging for more than nine years and its dosage is 4.5 g/liter.
Blend
100% pinot noir. The first press is exclusively composed of grapes from the central plots of the Clos des Goisses, "Les Grands Cintres" and " Les Petits Cintres " in Mareuil- sur- Ay.
