Description
The indulgence and refinement of a vintage Blanc de Blancs by Ruinart
The estate
The first Champagne House founded in 1729, Ruinart is an essential reference. The historic Champagne Ruinart House owes its birth to the visionary and pioneering monk Dom Thierry Ruinart. Located in the heart of Reims, the Ruinart House guards a treasure. Unique, historical monuments and architectural feats, the Ruinart chalk pits have been classified as a historical site since 1931 and have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since July 2015. Nearly 40 meters underground, in the darkness and coolness of the cathedral-like cellars, the precious bottles await their moment in the light. Elegance, style, and timelessness define the DNA of the Champagne Ruinart House, one of the most appreciated brands in France, embodying the excellence of French lifestyle around the world.
The vineyard
The Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2009 from the Ruinart House is made from great Champagne terroirs, namely 82% Grands Crus from the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Chouilly, Le Mesnil, Oger and Avize) and 18% from the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims (including Sillery, a historic grand cru).
The wine
Produced only in exceptional vintages, the Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs cuvée, which has only seen 26 vintages, highlights the aromatic richness of chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of the Ruinart House. A worthy successor to the 2007 vintage, this Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2009 from the Ruinart House proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of the creation of this exceptional vintage cuvée.
The vintage
Described as sunny, 2009 is marked, despite lower rainfall than previous years, by a harvest of perfectly ripe grapes. Seasonal and without a heatwave, the summer temperatures allowed for the preservation of a beautiful freshness mixed with a crunchy and indulgent fruit.
Vinification
The grapes used to make the Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2009 from the Ruinart House are hand-harvested. The alcoholic fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks is followed by a malolactic fermentation. The dosage of this Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2009 is 4g/l and its aging is a minimum of 8 years on lees.
Blend
This 2009 vintage champagne is a 100% chardonnay.
