Description
The generous delicacy of a great Pauillac wine
The property
The Château Croizet-Bages, a classified growth of Pauillac, was born in the 18th century. Thanks to its prestige, the Château distinguished itself at universal exhibitions in the 19th century. In 1942, the château was bought by a merchant named Paul Quié, whose family still heads this prestigious property.
The vineyard
The 27 hectares of vineyard of this reference from the left bank of Bordeaux are located on the Bages plateau. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on soils composed of deep gravel and gravelly sands, characteristic of the Pauillac appellation.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage combined strong climatic episodes. Marked by tempered heat and a few rainy episodes, the year 2019 delivered very ripe merlots and fresh cabernets, the blend of which is very promising.
Vinification and ageing
Harvest from 18 to 25 September for the merlots, from 27 September to 10 October for the cabernet sauvignons. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. Parcel selection. Thermo-regulated fermentation from 26 to 28°C. Daily pumping over. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and tanks. Ageing for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new barrels.
Blend
This Château Croizet-Bages 2019 is the result of a blend of cabernet sauvignon (66%) and merlot (34%).
