The richness and refinement of an emblematic Premier Cru Classé from Pessac-Léognan
The property
Château Haut-Brion, founded in 1549 by Jean de Pontac, is the oldest of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, located in Pessac. Covering 51 hectares, of which 48 are dedicated to red grape varieties, it is recognized for its exceptional terroir. Since 1935, the Dillon family has been managing it, thus preserving quality and tradition. The wines, carefully aged in oak barrels, are renowned for their ability to age.
The vintage
2012 is characterized in Pessac-Léognan by marked heterogeneity, with a bud break disturbed by a cool and rainy April, and slow veraison. The summer was hot and dry. The harvest took place from September 17 to October 9.
Vinification and aging
Château Haut-Brion 2012 benefited from aging in oak barrels, 75% of which were new. Bottling took place from July 8 to 10, 2014.
Blend
Merlot (65.5%) cabernet sauvignon (32.5%) and cabernet franc (2%).
