Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Haut-Brion 2016
Tasting
Color
Bright red hue with violet and garnet reflections.
Nose
Both very complex and expressive, the nose charms with its striking aromatic freshness on scents of violet as well as red and black fruits.
Palate
The palate is juicy, dense, broad, precise and held from the attack to the finish by a very chiseled acidity. Broad, the wine displays tannins of exemplary finesse and maturity. The grain of the tannin is such that the touch is creamy, coated, silky. The finish is long and the whole, of a beautiful balance, appears complete, perfect, very refined. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful bottles of Haut-Brion in the worthy lineage of 2010 and the most striking vintages of the château.

The property
The oldest of the Bordeaux Grands Crus, Château Haut-Brion benefits from a rich heritage built over five centuries of history. Founded in 1533 by Jean de Pontac in the Graves region, the wine of Château Haut-Brion was quickly coveted and appreciated by the greatest monarchs of Europe. In 1663, Samuel Pepys, a member of the English Parliament, unknowingly contributed to the success of Château Haut-Brion through his diary, writing "And there, I drank a sort of French wine called Ho-Bryan that had a very particular good taste that I had never encountered...". The legend was born. First Grand Cru Classé outside Médoc in 1855 and recognized as a Classified Growth in the Official Classification of Graves Wines in 1959, Château Haut-Brion continues to write the legend of the greatest wines of Bordeaux but also international, confirming, vintage after vintage, its exceptional regularity.
The vineyard
A true viticultural jewel of the A.O.C of Pessac-Léognan located in the heart of the Pessac agglomeration, Château Haut-Brion has an exceptional terroir on soils composed of multicolored gravels that produce sumptuous, elegant, precise wines with incredible regularity from one vintage to another.
Blend
Merlot (56%)
Cabernet sauvignon (37.5%)
Cabernet franc (6.5%).
