Characteristics and tasting advice for Sancerre Les Chasseignes 2022 from Domaine du Pré Semelé
Tasting
Nose
The bouquet opens with expressive aromas of ripe fruit, gradually evolving towards a more mineral profile. We discover notes of white fruit, accompanied by subtle floral touches that bring finesse and elegance.
Palate
Generous and complex, this wine reveals a beautiful structure on the palate with a remarkable length. The frank attack gives way to a full-bodied palate where the mineral character of the limestone terroir is fully expressed. The finish, persistent and salivating, confirms the quality of this Sancerre.
Food and wine pairings
This Sancerre wine will perfectly accompany fish and white meats. Its minerality and freshness also make it an ideal companion for seafood and regional goat cheeses.
Service and aging
Les Chasseignes 2022 will be fully appreciated served between 10 and 12°C. Although already expressive in its youth, this wine can be kept until around 2030, gradually evolving towards a more mineral profile over time.

The property
Founded in the 1940s by Camille and Maurice Raimbault, Domaine du Pré Semelé is a family vineyard located in the Loire wine region, near Sancerre. Today, it extends over 20 hectares, mainly planted with sauvignon blanc and pinot noir. Led by Julien and Clément Raimbault, the estate stands out for its commitment to quality and diversity of terroirs, with varied soils such as limestone and flint. The cuvées, notably Les Chasseignes, have received international distinctions, highlighting the balance between tradition and modernity.
The vineyard
The cuvée Les Chasseignes comes from a one-hectare plot located on the eponymous place called Sancerre. This exceptional terroir is characterized by its Portlandian limestone soil, offering the vines a privileged south, southeast exposure. The vines, 50 years old, are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, guaranteeing an authentic expression of the Sancerre terroir.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest followed by a long and gentle pressing. Vinification is carried out without the addition of enzymes or sulfites, with a settling after 48 hours of cold stabilization. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in 20-hectolitre oak barrels. The total aging lasts 18 months, including 12 months on fermentation lees, followed by a Blend and an additional 6 months of aging. Bottling takes place in the spring, on a fruit day, without fining or filtration.
