The property

El Enemigo was born from the shared desire of Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker of the famous Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, to produce great wines in the heart of the Mendoza region. Thus, in 2007, these two enthusiasts created El Enemigo, literally "the enemy", as well as the Bodega Aleanna winery. Success was not long in coming and very quickly, the domaine gained worldwide recognition, particularly thanks to its Gran Enemigo Gualtallary cabernet franc.

The vineyard

Located near the Andes in Argentina, El Enemigo overlooks a vineyard rising from 930 to 1470 meters in altitude, where a diversity of limestone, rocky and clay soils constitute exceptional terroirs for viticulture.

Vinification and ageing

The berries of this cuvée are harvested in 5 stages: a month and a half elapses between the first and last harvest. This wine is vinified in barrels under the influence of indigenous yeasts with 23 days of maceration and 30% whole bunches. The wine is aged for 15 months in 100-year-old foudres.
