A precise and mineral riesling from Southern Australia
The property
Grosset, an emblematic estate of the Clare Valley in Australia, was founded in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset, a pioneer in the production of pure and refined rieslings. The estate, which covers 22 hectares and is certified organic, is recognised for its highly precise wines. With its three plots dedicated to riesling, Grosset stands out as one of the best producers in this Australian region.
The vineyard
The Springvale vineyard, located at 460 metres above sea level, is the highest on the estate. It covers 6 hectares and rests on red loam soils with a limestone and slate subsoil. This unique terroir allows the production of Clare Valley rieslings with a distinct mineral character.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by ideal climatic conditions, with moderate rainfall and a hot summer without excess. This vintage allowed a balanced maturation of the grapes, giving the Springvale Riesling a beautiful freshness and an elegant structure.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are hand-picked, destemmed and then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with neutral yeasts, in order to preserve the purity of the aromas. The wine is aged on lees for two months, without fining and with a light filtration before bottling.
Blend
Riesling (100%).
