Description
A Second Wine from Pauillac, charming in its aromatic finesse and freshness
The estate
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its current form in 1855, although it was built as early as the 16th century. The vineyard was marked by the passage of Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. He then sold the property to the Borie family in 1978 who have since carried out numerous renovations. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is today one of the most representative crus of the Pauillac appellation.
Lacoste-Borie is the Second Wine of the estate.
The vineyard
The Lacoste-Borie 2021 is a Pauillac wine from a 90-hectare vineyard, 60 of which are planted in one piece. The vines, averaging 38 years old, are planted on deep gravelly ridges.
The vintage
A mild and wet winter precedes a dry spring alternating a warm March and a particularly cold April. Thanks to its location near the estuary, the vineyard was protected from frost. The heavy rainfall in June gave way to a cool and wet July followed by a dry but cool August. These conditions allowed for the gradual and homogeneous development of the vineyard until the harvest.
Blend
This Lacoste-Borie 2021 is the result of a blend of cabernet sauvignon (56%), merlot (36%) and cabernet franc (8%).
