Description
The refinement and aromatic structure of a second Pauillac Wine
The property
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its current form in 1855, although it was built as early as the 16th century. The vineyard property was marked by the passage of Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. He then sold the property to the Borie family in 1978 who have since carried out numerous renovations. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is today one of the most representative crus of the Pauillac appellation.
Lacoste-Borie is the Second Wine of the estate.
The vineyard
This Lacoste-Borie 2022 is a Pauillac wine from a 90-hectare vineyard, 60 of which are planted in one piece. The vines, averaging 38 years old, are planted on deep gravelly ridges.
The vintage
A mild and moderately rainy winter promotes bud break at the end of March. Carried out under good weather conditions, flowering is quick and uniform. The spring, like the summer, is marked by alternating periods of intense heat with rainy episodes. The veraison begins on July 13, under warm days and cool nights ensuring a progressive ripening of the berries. Historically early, the harvest begins on September 7.
Blend
This Lacoste-Borie 2022 is made from a blend of cabernet sauvignon (56%), merlot (35%) and cabernet franc (9%).
