Winegrowers in Sancerre for 10 generations, the Bourgeois family is one of the appellation's leading names. With a desire to reveal the finest Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc terroirs, Rémi and Jean-Marie Bourgeois set out to explore the world to find the rare gem. After a long search, it was in New Zealand that the Bourgeois family embarked on a new adventure, founding Clos Henri. In 2000, the Bourgeois family acquired 98 hectares of virgin land on the superb Marlborough terroirs in the north of New Zealand's South Island. The first vines were planted in 2001, and the first vintage of Clos Henri was produced in 2003. Following the acquisition of new plots, Clos Henri now covers 110 hectares of vines, 42 hectares of which are certified organic.

The exceptional diversity of soils combined with the Marlborough climate provide ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

The wines produced by the Clos Henri estate, like Petit Clos and Clos Henri, have become benchmarks for New Zealand wines, offering a vibrant expression of Marlborough terroirs and bearing witness to the know-how of the Bourgeois family.
