Description
A generous and indulgent vintage Brut Champagne from the Collection Crayères
The property
An essential reference, the Champagne Charles Heidsieck House oversees a prestigious heritage with two-thousand-year-old chalk pits. Pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished himself from the late 80s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution capacity of his multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was thus the first Champagne house to indicate the "cellaring year" in order to track the wine's evolution over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck House owns a vineyard of about 60 hectares in the Marne and Aube. This vineyard benefits from a sustainable viticulture approval as well as High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its needs through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
Available in limited edition, the Vintage Brut 1990 Collection Crayères Charles Heidsieck was cellared in 1991 and disgorged in 2021.
The vintage
A year marked by severe spring frosts, 1990 was subsequently a very sunny year without it being possible to talk about drought as in 1959 and 1976. The heat allowed the vineyard to be kept in perfect health until the harvest date.
Blend
Pinot noir (65%), chardonnay (35%).
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Vintage Brut Collection Crayeres 1990
Tasting
Colour
Beautiful shimmering golden colour, adorned with coppery reflections enhancing the finesse of the bubbles.
Nose
Complex, the bouquet opens with smoky notes evoking the scents of undergrowth, truffle and humus in the forest. Then appear notes of blond tobacco followed by delicious notes of quince paste, nougat and caramel as well as notes reminiscent of gewurztraminer.
Palate
From the attack, this superb vintage champagne deploys a full and generous substance. The sunny personality of the vintage expresses itself with opulence right through to the finish.
