Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Millésimé Brut Collection Crayeres 2000
Tasting
Colour
A golden hue adorned with green reflections. The effervescence is ample, delicate and creamy.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with toasted nuances, evolving towards fruity scents of mandarin, mango and kumquat, before revealing aromas of ripe fruit.
Palate
In the mouth, a slight austerity promises a good ageing potential. The finish is marked by subtle peppery notes.
The complexity and refinement of a vintage champagne
The property
An essential reference, the Champagne Charles Heidsieck House watches over a prestigious heritage with two thousand year old chalk pits. Pioneer, Charles Heidsieck distinguished himself from the late 80s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution capacity of his multi-vintage Brut champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was thus the first Champagne house to indicate the year of "cellaring" in order to follow the evolution of the wine over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck House owns a vineyard of about 60 hectares in the Marne and Aube. This vineyard benefits from a sustainable viticulture approval as well as High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its needs through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
Through this 2000 edition of its "Collection Crayères", Charles Heidsieck once again opens its Oenothèque. A tribute to the founder of this illustrious house, this Millésimé Collection Crayères 2000 is a Brut champagne cellared in 2001 and disgorged in 2021.
The vintage
Following a homogeneous flowering suggesting significant yields, episodes of storms and hail in April strongly impact the vineyard. Subsequently, the sanitary pressure (mildew, botrytis) is counterbalanced by warm and sunny conditions during the harvest, revealing grapes of great quality.
Blend
Pinot noir (60%)
Chardonnay (40%).
