Description

A Second Cru Classé from Margaux with a velvety and delicate touch

The property

This vineyard named "Hostein" in the 18th century was already at that time one of the most beautiful labels of the Médoc. At the head of the Château Brane-Cantenac since 1992, Henri Lurton perpetuates with passion the viticultural adventure begun by his ancestors, combining tradition with the modernity of infrastructures aimed at magnifying the identity of the wines from this exceptional terroir of the Margaux appellation.

The vineyard

The Château de Brane-Cantenac is a Margaux wine from a vineyard whose location within the Brane plateau terroir contributes to the elegant and aromatic signature of the property's wines. The Grand Vin is made from old vine plots located on the 4th terrace with the most clayey gravels, within a historic terroir of about 45 hectares.

Vinification and aging

Vinification in wooden vats before aging for 18 months in barrels (70% of which are new).

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (53%), merlot (40%) and cabernet franc (7%).

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Château Brane-Cantenac 2009

Tasting

Nose
With a beautiful aromatic intensity, the nose combines fragrances of blackcurrant and blackberry with touches of white pepper and red fruits.

Palate
Soft and elegant attack, carried by tannins of great finesse. The velvety texture reveals a beautiful aromatic richness in the mid-palate, up to a persistent and radiant finish, marked by subtle woody notes and a refined floral touch.

Service and aging

A decanting of 1h30 to 2h is recommended before serving at 18°C. This wine can wait in cellars until around 2039-2049.

Food and wine pairings

A tournedos served with a truffled potato mash is a delicate pairing with this cuvée.
