Tasting

Colour
Deep purple robe with violet reflections

Nose
The nose reveals fruity notes (raspberry, plum, boysenberry), floral (vanilla flower.), but also notes of sage, black pepper, mace and cocoa.

Palate
Rich and beautifully supple, the palate exudes aromas of black plum, cherry and crushed blackberry, ideally balanced with a vibrant acidity supported by delicate tannins stretching to a long and subtly peppery finish.

Keeping

This red wine from Barossa Valley can be kept in cellars until around 2037.

The estate

Henschke is a renowned family estate located in the wine region of Barossa in Australia, with a viticultural history dating back over 150 years. Known for its commitment to sustainable and artisanal viticultural practices, the Henschke family is dedicated to producing expressive wines that reflect the unique character of their terroirs. Henry’s Seven pays tribute to a visionary ancestor, Henry Evans, a pioneer of viticulture in this region in the 19th century.

The vineyard

The vines that produce Henry's Seven are located in the Barossa Valley region. This terroir is marked by rich and diverse soils, ranging from sand to clay, promoting an authentic expression of the grape varieties. The vineyard benefits from sustainable management, with an emphasis on preserving local biodiversity.

Vinification and ageing

Co-fermentation of the viognier with the shiraz, grenache and mataro are fermented separately. Ageing in 100% French oak barrels for 8 months.

Blend

Shiraz (72%), grenache (15%), mataro (11%), and a touch of viognier (2%) from vineyards in Eden Valley and Barossa.
