Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the Rare Millésime 2013 from Rare Champagne
Tasting
Colour
Bright, the colour is a beautiful shade of gold, revealing a delicate effervescence.
Nose
The nose first expresses delicate floral notes, mixed with touches of black tea and citrus. Then, aromas of white fruits, such as greengage, appear, complemented by nuances of honey, sweet spices, vanilla and almond paste, offering a pleasant richness.
Palate
Rare Millésime 2013 offers a seductive duality on the palate: both sweet and lively. The attack evokes meringue, whipped cream and almond paste, followed by the freshness of kumquat, blood orange and kiwi. In the finish, its texture reveals fragrant and smoky notes, with a vivacity and subtle bitters. Its fleshy amplitude highlights a unique signature, combining minerality and tropical accents.
Food and wine pairings
This champagne perfectly accompanies a seafood platter, a John Dory ceviche or a mint lentil daal.
Storage
This vintage can be stored in cellars well beyond 2040, revealing its full complexity over time.
A radiant and mineral vintage champagne
The property
Rare Champagne is a daring house, producing champagnes in limited quantities only in years marked by extraordinary climatic conditions. For over 40 years, it has declared only 14 vintages, each one being a unique expression of nature and the Cellar Master's know-how. The latter selects terroirs for their expressiveness, breaking conventions with chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims and pinot noirs with unmatched velvety.
The vintage
After a cold winter and spring, marked by irregular rain, the summer is characterised by a mix of sun, drought and storms. In September, a sudden climate change occurs: autumnal coolness sets in, accompanied by strong winds, leading to a late start of the harvest, which takes place in October.
Blend
This champagne is composed of chardonnay and pinot noir, in judiciously balanced proportions to offer both freshness, intensity and elegance.
