Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Rare Millésime Rosé 2014 from Rare Champagne

Tasting

Colour
A hue of coppery pink gold, announcing a rare aromatic richness and depth. The effervescence is fine and elegant.

Nose
The nose opens up to fragrances of red and black fruits (wild strawberries, black cherry) and blood orange. Upon aeration, the bouquet reveals nuances of musk, apricot, and touches of chocolate as well as violet and spices (star anise, pepper).

Palate
The attack is lively and juicy, with flavours of pomegranate and morello cherry. Gourmet notes of strawberry tart and pastry cream bring a velvety touch. The finish reveals a beautiful tension, with touches of chocolate and kirsch, and a remarkable length, marked by a slight bitterness.

Food and wine pairings

This Rosé champagne perfectly accompanies many dishes (Spanish charcuterie, hand-chopped beef tartare, eel stew in red wine, game, puff pastry vegetable pie with crunchy vegetables and black truffles or even a strawberry tart.

Keeping

This cuvée can wait in cellars until at least 2034 and beyond.

The indulgence and freshness of a vintage Rosé champagne

The property

Rare Champagne is a daring house, producing champagnes in limited quantities only in years marked by extraordinary climatic conditions. For over 40 years, it has declared only 14 vintages, each one being a unique expression of nature and the expertise of the Cellar Master. The latter selects terroirs for their expressiveness, breaking conventions with chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims and pinot noirs with unmatched velvety.

The wine

This Rosé champagne 2014 is the fourth produced by the House in this type of cuvée.

The vintage

After a mild and wet autumn and winter, March and April bring dry weather. After a rainy period, June becomes hot and sunny. However, July and August are marked by heavy rains and cool temperatures. It is only in September that a sunny and dry climate is established, promising a beautiful harvest.

Blend

Chardonnay and pinot noir.
